The Carlsbad Iditarod

When you have three energetic little dogs, how do you keep them exercised? First you take a three-wheeled bike... a couple of harnesses... some ingenuity... and voila!

If you lived here, you would see us going by every morning, early, before it gets too hot. We either go to the field, or the park. Then we all get unhitched, put on our regular leashes, and we take a long walk. Back again to the bike, get hitched up, and we trot back home for bones!

Well, its pretty close to what I pictured when you told me about your version of Iditarod... great!!! Fun in the California sun! But one question.. how do you steer? And, do they run faster going home? :^)

I steer the bike just like a regular bike, they stay alongside just fine. And they run faster going to the park! They only trot going home...

Love it! I've got to see that in person, sometime! :)

That is so hilarious! Especially old Caspar, the spare tire!

This may be one of the funniest, dearest things I've ever seen. I am not kidding. When Caspar turns his head to look at the camera (was Allison shooting?), I thought I'd pass out from cute overload.

Thanks, Mel! Craig was filming. You can almost hear Caspar wondering what Daddy is doing, standing there. The pups, however, and outbound and truckin'.
The bike is in the shop, getting new tires, a hand brake, and a new seat cover. Plus flags and a bigger tool basket. So we are going to be hitting the road in total Eskie style next week. I want to stencil little Eskie heads on the orange flags. We are spending more time in the bike lane and I wanted cars to be able to see us from far away.

Oh, and I told Craig that no matter how much we spend on fixing up the bike, it will still be cheaper than the Vespa that my heart still yearns for!
